Description
The Russian Academic Drawing Course is a fully immersive online figure drawing course presented by artist Iliya Mirochnik, a graduate of the Repin Academy of Art in Saint Petersburg, Russia. Iliya and the participants will work from images of nude models in a variety of media using Zoom as the collaborative educational platform.
The subject of cloth can be tricky, confusing, and all-around challenging to draw. But it can also be used as a foundation for all the crucial principles of drawing such as silhouette, shape, structure, light and shadow, and shading. This course explores all of the structural fold types and how they are seen under various lighting conditions.
This class will consist of a series of demonstrations from still-lives and images of cloth with examples from the Old Masters in which the historical significance of particular, cloth structures will be discussed. Students will draw along and participate in critiques of the previous week’s work at the beginning of each session through Zoom screen sharing.
