OVERVIEW

 

In this 5-day painting workshop, explore spectacular Plein Air locations along Florida’s Gulf Coast!

International Master Painter, Jove Wang will be teaching his expressive Painterly style. He will focus on composition; design; and use of tone and color to capture dynamic paintings. Through on-site, live demos, and one-on-one personal attention, he’ll use his skills to help you further yours.

In this workshop Master Painter Jove Wang will help you establish a consistent painting process, instilling inner confidence and bolstering your ability to paint with boldness and

directness.

Artists will have the opportunity to work inland at the Crowley Museum and Nature Preserve in a historic pioneer setting  as well as at the famous Fishing village at Old Cortez, Florida. There will be beautiful pastoral landscapes, exotic animals, historical figures, old villages, and many more exciting subjects to paint!

Artists are encouraged to practice social distancing guidelines according to the CDC regulations for the State of Florida in effect at that time.

Supply List

Supply List

This is a suggested list. There is no requirement. Bring whatever you are most comfortable with and are already using.

  • Plein air easel,
  • Umbrella,
  • Palette Knives assorted
  • Gamsol 
  • Medium for brush cleaning (Jove use regular cooking oil for cleaning brushes)
  • brush washer,
  • Paper towel
  • Trash bags

Paints:

  • Titanium White (Old Holland or good quality)
  • Manganese Blue (Winsor & Newton or equivalent for all the rest colors)
  • Ultramarine Blue
  • Viridian
  • Cadmium Yellow Light or Lemon
  • Cadmium Yellow Medium
  • Yellow Ochre
  • Cadmium Orange
  • Alizarin Crimson
  • Burnt Sienna or Burnt Umber
  • Mauve Blue Shade or Violet 
  • Cadmium Red
  • Permanent Rose ( for Portrait painting)

Surfaces:

  • Canvas: cotton, linen or wood panel- Gessoed or oil primed 
  • Size: bring various sizes equivalent to 8×10, 9×12, 12×12,11×14, 6×12,8×16, up to 12×16 as largest size
  • Amount: There will be 2 half demo days, and 1 half critique day.
  • (Plan on 2 paintings a day,  at least 7 canvases. )
  • Sketch Book , 6×9, pencil for drawing

Brushes:

  • Hog hair bristle brushes, size 2,4,6,8, 
  • Filbert or Flat 

For personal use:

  • Stool
  • Backpack or cart.
  • Prepare your lunch, water bottle, hat, sunscreen, and bug spray
  • Notebook to take plenty notes
