Hands and Feet
This intensive focuses on the study of hands and feet. Hands and feet are probably the most complex parts of the figure, often neglected as subjects of study in favor of the figure as a whole and the anatomical knowledge that pertains to it. This course focuses all the attention on the anatomical structure of the human hand and foot. The class will explore anatomical similarities between the two, gestural block-ins, tonal sketching, and executing fully developed drawings.
Students will create comparative studies of the skeletal and muscular forms of the hands and feet, and then apply the knowledge to drawing them from observation. Classical casts will be used alongside casts of human hands and feet.
Students will draw alongside Iliya and participate in critiques of the previous week’s work at the beginning of each session through Zoom and IPad screen sharing.
