Portrait Fundamentals: Skull and Cast Head Study
The Portrait Fundamentals intensive focuses on the main structures of the human skull and head and aims to build confidence in portraiture, regardless of medium. The course begins with a lecture portion in which the participants analyze the skull in terms of cephalometric points, planar orientations, and structural angles. The students then proceed to apply this knowledge onto the skull from observation, both in short sketches and an extended, more developed drawing. The second day involves using both the planar head cast and sculptural casts to apply the skull foundations to the human head.
