Make your Colors Rock!
Mastering Color Intensive with Dasa Pierce
August 3rd-4th 9:30-4pm
Would you like your colors to sing? Would you like to get to the colors that you want quickly and with more understanding? Would you like to learn the short cuts to arriving at a color? In this lab, the limited palette takes on the extended palette! Knowing how to efficiently mix your colors is the key to attaining crisp, clean, deliberate colors, and that will put an end to “mud.” We will be painting bright objects and comparing the limited and extended palettes. This naturally helps to focus on painting the color relationship—the real understanding of color. Students will start off with a classical limited palette to learn how to control—not the colors—but the relationship of color in terms of value and color families. Students will use this solid base as springboard to expand their palette. We will start with simple objects and increase the challenges. At any given time, anyone can focus on a simple area, or more complex area of each set up. We will emphasize shorter (20-40 min.) exercises so that we can compare and contrast our subject, as well as our palettes, and get those colors to sing!
